Bought a pair of Innr bulbs. I have the need for 28 total around the outside of my house, but wanted to start with 2. I paired them, then had them installed. They are visible still in Hubitat but one works perfect and the other is unresponsive.
My hub isn't super close so I bought a pair of Innr SP 224 smart plugs to see if it was just unlucky that I was further from one over the other. Still can't communicate with the bulb.
Is there a way to pair both again? I tried with the plugs and one pairs quickly and then the other leaves pairing mode.
If not what would you try? I could move the hub closer, but would need to use wifi then instead of wired. I'd love to get this working before investing in any more bulbs...
Just in case...are any of the bulbs controlled by a switch inside the house? For any that are, you would have a much easier way if you changed those switches to smart switch(es) to control the bulbs. No longer have to purchase a bunch of smart bulbs and try to connect w/a bunch of devices outside.
They are RGBW bulbs. I want to control the color. There is one switch for both bulbs. Plenty of smart switches in the house...but all UPB atm. Using Homeseer to control those and talking to Hubitat to turn them on off. Biggest concern now is the migration to Zigbee and how to pair two devices on one switch when they are out of reach.
I'd buy/try one more bulb. Looks like it is possible that you have a defective bulb. If that fails bite the bullet and pay the Hue tax. Expensive but they will work. Also Phillips Wiz WiFi (local control) work.
How about power cycling the bulbs by turning off the switch for a while?
Could zigbee panic mode help? (I don't know off hand how long power off is required for that.)
The costs of hiring someone every time it screws up could dwarf the cost of any Hue option, I would think.
In terms of Hue bulbs connected to a Hue hub and brought into HE via the built-in Hue integration, I've just never seen a single failure in the three years that I've had them set up that way. Added more Hue bulbs over time and the darn things just work. That's why they are the only bulbs I use now. Costs more, but at least for me they are definitely a "get what you pay for" success.
My experience with Hue is only indoor but the light from those bulbs is completely even. Unlike any other led bulbs I have used. No bright spots, just uniform. Just a guess, you can probably match the color but not the general appearance.
I hadn't looked at other brands because I wanted the power on state to be remembered. An alternative of course would be to buy a light switch that leaves the load on, but controls the on/off state with the Hubitat. I have a ton of UPB light switches that I could do this on by integrating Homeseer & Hubitat together, but would prefer to buy a new switch that works natively with Hubitat. I can't seem to see that this is listed under specs as a possibility but can I assume it is? Would this only work on some zwave switches?
You can use the switch to put the bulbs into pairing mode. It will reset both of them but just add them back into the mesh and see if it stays connected.
What radio are they using? If it is Zigbee then you might need to add a some repeaters to strengthen the mesh.
Do the INNR bulbs not act as repeaters? I put in 26 of them now, but the ones at the peak of the roof do not respond while the rest do. They of course are furthest from my Hubitat, but are close to other bulbs.
