[2.4.3.149] new weather tile. What kind of virtual device

Add a virtual device. There is a drop down to select the type of virtual device. Which one?

OpenWeatherMap. It's not in the Virtual section of the Type listings, in case that's what may be tripping you up.

I'm missing something... When I select add a virtual devices I'm presented with this screen.

Is there an advantage to using this instead of the one below? I suppose that's the age old question - switch to a native driver once it is available?

OpenWeatherMap-Alerts Weather Driver

Where I went south is that you have to type openweather into the search box and select it before you can name it. It doesn't appear in the virtual list.

Is not, you, it's me. I messed up and forgot to indicate that you need to search or find OpenWeatherMap in the list of virtual devices.

I fixed my post.

@bobbyD I'm getting a warning and setup required with my API key. I use it for other things so I know it is valid. Below is not the full key.

The community driver got the right attributes. I'll check how to expand the support without breaking anything.

That should be fine going forward. It's not an error.

I tried to add another virtual weather device for a second location, but only one is showing on the Home page. Any way to get a second one to appear? (Yes, different API Keys.)

Not at this time. But added to future enhancements.

Any idea what the illegal character might be? Weather shows as setup needed.

url’s dont do spaces, so the space between United and States is defo wrong. w/o out looking deeper into the api there is potential the entire ”,United States” after the zip is unexpected/invalid/may cause errors.

Yep, United states is wrong per their API docs. Country code should be used instead of country name.

That's a solution. Removing zip code and country from the preferences page is the fix. I entered the zip code and chrome auto-filled "United States." Leaving both of those fields empty works.

oh yeah, auto fill / autocorrect will get ya… Mine thinks i say “duck” a lot
