Just did a backup of my C5 hub after upgrading to 2.2.3.118 and noticed the the size of it is only 2,870 KB.
My previous backup (2.2.2.129) is 14,995 KB.
This is kinda scary. Is this OK? Where'd everything go???
All my previous backups are around 15 megs.
Just wondering if I should be worried.

This is normal, devs decided to reduce the maximum events retained in the database from 1000 to 100 which is why you are seeing the drop in backup size.

Seeing huge reductions here - one hub went from 30.7MB to just under 3MB. 
Hopefully this shortens the maintenance window.
Yes, maintenance will be much quicker as well as overall increase in the performance of the hub over time. Many were experiencing gradual decrease in performance after a reboot, especially with a lot of devices and busy environment.

Still it might not hurt to let that be a setting so if you are trouble shooting something you could let it be larger.
It is a setting that support can help you with if required.
