Hello Community,
I am attempting to upgrade from a Amazon voice control systems with a few devices to a Hubitat Hub environment with not a lot of success. I have a C8 Hub running platform version 2.3.9.201. I have a Deco mesh running version3.8.76. I have been going through the setup with no luck at all discovering any devices. I tried to setup some of my amazon voice devices virtually. I was able to add a device that way but was unable to get any response from the device. I'm obviously over my head in this project but feel that with a little guidance I can make progress and avoid the headaches and frustration of hitting brick walls. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.
What kind of devices?
Are they wifi or zigbee devices?
As both @aaiyar and @rlithgow1 said knowing what the devices are will help allot. So it is important to know if they are Zigbee, Zwave (not supported by alexa though), or Wifi
If they are Zigbee you will likely need to unpair them from Alexa. If they are wifi you need to make sure there is a integration to pair with them.
Have you checked the "Device Compatability list" which will tell you if they device has been validated by Hubitat themselves. If the device isn't on the list you may need a community integration/driver for it.
So lets start simple and work through one issue at a time.
Lets start with what the devices are and what network they use. If you got them from Amazon a link to their store for exactly what you got may help.
Just incase it is the case, Amazon sells allot of Wifi devices that don't integrate with Hubitat, so you may find some of your devices just won't work with it either if they are wifi based. This isn't really a limitation of Hubitat, but those devices creating walled gardens without open API's for hubitat to use.
I am in the process of finding out the types of devices I have and will post that info. Thanks to all for your responses.
These are some devices I have and theyโre types. Wi-Fi: Amazon echos, Kasa smart plugs, blink & Eufy security cameras. Zigbee: Tuya Pir Motion Sensors. At this point most of my devices are Wi-Fi but with the addition of this Hub I would like to in time add more hub based devices.
A lot of your wifi devices won't work as they're cloud based. Your kasa plugs will though As will your zigbee devices. The eufy cameras will not.
(Though you could bring those in through Camect or Blue Iris)
Thank you for the info. Iโll work towards getting the smart plugs & zigbee motion sensors integrated.
You will need to factory reset all your devices.
The Kasa plugs don't have to be reset - they're WiFi. Cameras don't need to be reset either.
Only the zigbee Tuya PIR motion sensors need to be reset.
